Globally recognised artist KAWS aka Brian Donnelly will be showing his exhibition at Melbourne’s NGV this September titled: ‘KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness’ . The exhibition foregrounds the emotional content of the artist’s work. Through his works KAWS celebrates generosity, support for others and the deep need we have for companionship.

Known to many as a hybrid artist working across many mediums, KAWS aims to reminds us we need one another and that life should be lived as compassionately as possible to combat this ‘Age of Loneliness’, in the face of fear and hatred.

KAWS’s collaborations with other artists and major brands and his own products will also be explored within the exhibition. Most recently KAWS collaborated with Japanese retailer Uniqlo on apparel where people queued for hours to get their hands on items.

An accompanying publication features specially commissioned texts by the artist, and documents the breadth of KAWS’s artistic and design practice. It includes a catalogue raisonné of limited-edition figures by the artist. Alongside the main exhibition, KAWS will present a new show aimed at kids called ‘Playtime’. Because you’re never too young to learn about loneliness and longing.

You can now purchase tickets for ‘KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness’ via the NGV’s official site.
