Off the back of the successful temporary store last year at Holm Coffee, the pair at Platform Store have come into 2019 with a full permanent flagship store opening in Auckland this weekend. The duo of Molawin Evangelista and Cyrus Chow aim to shake up New Zealand retail by creating experiences, community and feelings through their product curation and space. Their mission is to provide not just items to buy but to create a line of conversation where new ideas can foster - the words retail concept definitely come to mind.

Taking heavy cues from their travels in Tokyo, Hong Kong and further abroad the pair realised that there was a gap in the market locally where they could sit. With an impressive brand list already from the new retailer they have aimed to bring in niche labels that are not represented within New Zealand. This sees the likes of cult Japanese menswear brand N.Hoolywood, Californian based streetwear label Bricks & Wood and popular skateboarding outlet GX1000 as additions to the store’s brand portfolio.

Brand List:

032C, Bricks & Wood, Garuda, Good Times Wear, GX1000, Hypebeast Magazine, Idea Ltd, Magazine B, Medicom Toy, N.Hoolywood, Pseushi, Park Delicatessen

With the interior being fitted by local studio Saint Leo the store features monochromatic hues and focuses on materials such as brushed steel, raw concrete and glass. The space itself is open with tons of natural light pouring in and is accessible being located in Auckland’s suburb of Mt Eden. The finishing touch behind the store counter is a mounted LED ticker screen worked on by New Territory Studio.

Expect the brand list to expand over the coming months with also an in-house label rumoured to be dropping as well as merchandise and collaborations in the pipeline. Platform Store is set to open tomorrow May 11th at 10am with baked goods provided by Daily Bread and drinks from Flight Coffee and Brothers Beer.
