UNDERCOVER x Nike SS19 Goes Technical And Features Daybreak Sneakers

Nike and UNDERCOVER present their first mainline collection from Spring/Summer 2019.

June 7th

Since 2010 Nike and UNDERCOVER have been collaborating seasonally on the Gyakusou line overseen by Jun Takahashi, UNDERCOVER’s Creative Director. This line was sought after by runners and streetwear officiandos as one of the precursors into techwear and leisure.

This Spring/Summer 2019 the two brands have introduced their first collection as a mainline feature, not under the Gyakusou name - this brings bigger expectations and further depth into UNDERCOVER’s design ethos onto Nike special release product.

This capsule collection features four unique garments that feature customisable fits that allow for mobility with function being at the forefront of this collection. For example the t-shirt armholes can be loosened or tightened to your desire and the width of the long sleeve shirts can be adjusted. A recurring fabric is mesh which is used on pockets and panels across the outerwear allowing the lightweight material to be put on show for usability and eye candy. As well as this each piece is finished with a tonal rubber text which includes the UNDERCOVER slogan of “BALANCE/CHAOS” also shortened to “B” and “C”.

Clothing isn’t the only release within the collection, it will also introduce seven colourways of the Daybreak sneaker, a runner that was teased late last year. The sneaker is made from a nylon upper, suede mudguards and features a sharply designed back panel with UNDERCOVER branding on the midsole. Colourways range from yellow, black/grey, blue with more imagery to come before release.

The capsule collection releases June 7th through Nike and a pre-sale is expected on UNDERCOVER’s website before that date..
