Started in 2017, Steele And Edith is a Los Angeles based menswear label that manufactures out of Shenzhen, China utilising fabrics from Italy and Japan. Rather than have an assembly line of workers, the factory only employs sewers who are able to complete garments from start to finish. Each sewer is expected to complete 1-3 garments per day depending on the complexity of the design at hand.

Their latest Spring Summer collection titled: “Arriving While Departing”, confronts themes of class disparity, human values, and compromise. The interplay of such themes is both a constant source of internal tension as well as a vital impetus that drives Brian Tu’s (Creative Director) reconstructive process.

Within the collection denim truckers are re-worked with delicate lace detailing, while pinstriped trousers sit carrot-legged and breezily cropped. A star of the season is a lush boucle stadium jacket, face fabric evocative of dark, damp moss.

Further inviting offerings include an assemblage double-rider with silken velvet sleeves joined to a Japanese denim bodice, a satin camp shirt with striking chain-stitched script across the back, and a collared blouson in a digi-camo weave that sports a tightly framed multi-pocket layout—double-entry below a Superlampo zip.

Tu succeeds in designing clothes that remain carefully modest in spite of their embellishments. The collection is scheduled to launch March 28th 12:00pm PST over on with shipping options worldwide.
