A League Of Their Own: Design Studios

"A League Of Their Own" is an ongoing series where we have a look at select individuals or businesses who stand out in their field of expertise. Today we look at design studios from all over the world.

Here are some of our favourite design studios who are delivering the highest quality of work. From Auckland to London and everywhere else in between we introduce those who are not just doing great client based work but those who are inspiring a new generation of design and pushing the culture forward. With clients one dreams of and the practice and brains to execute some of the best projects, it really is no question that these studios are above others.

Hort Berlin

Hort is a graphic design studio based in Berlin, Germany. They have created a unique visual style that speaks beyond just the screen and paper. Consistently producing strong graphic work the studio understands typography well and executes with references to Bauhaus and other subcultural European scenes. Tucked away in a small office in Berlin the humble team are producing work globally recognised led by Eike König.

They offer their creative services in photography, graphic design, art direction and film working alongside clients such as New Tendency, SSENSE and Nike. Haw-lin Services are one of the few studios who push visual culture into new realms with striking imagery and creative direction. It's hard not to be amazed and impressed by the work Haw-lin have produced over the years with great understanding of imagery and "new age" design. With the help of their blog "Haw-lin" where the origin of the studio began they have transcended into a "must know" platform in the design industry.

Studio South
Auckland, New Zealand

When it comes to branding and execution there is no better studio right now in New Zealand than Studio South. Based in Auckland, Studio South helps to transform brands and businesses through strong conceptual thinking and carefully crafted design. Minimal in approach but effective in finish, creative director & founder Sam Southwell has built a niche within the small industry and has set the standard for New Zealand design. Working with large real estate developments and local Auckland businesses it's evident that the work they produce is polished and upmarket.
